Good for budgeting

I signed up for the Premium Plan. The budget calendar is useful. Bank feed sync worked fine. It helped me see where my money goes. I think it's a solid tool for personal finance.

Worth the annual fee

I was hesitant about another subscription, but the annual discount for the Super Plan made it more appealing. I compared it to YNAB and the features here seemed to offer more for my needs, especially the investment tracking. It felt like a good investment for managing my money. I'm saving a bit by paying yearly, which is always a plus. The initial setup took some time but I think it will pay off.

Consistent experience

I've been using PocketSmith for two years now, always on the Super Plan. This time, I imported some historical data, which worked smoothly just like before. The multi-currency accounting is still a key reason I stick with them, as it handles my international accounts well. It's been consistently reliable for tracking my net worth and expenses. No big surprises or glitches, which is what you want from a finance app.

Got the job done

I was looking for a Mint alternative after they shut down, and PocketSmith popped up. I went with the Premium Plan. Connecting my bank was pretty easy, just took a minute. I got my transactions categorized without too much fuss. It feels good to have my finances all in one place again. It's a nice, clean interface, not too complicated, which I appreciate.

Detailed financial overview

I subscribed to the Super Plan a few weeks ago, moving over from an older budgeting tool. The onboarding process was straightforward; connecting my bank accounts took maybe 10 minutes for all of them. The transaction categorization is mostly accurate, though I did have to manually adjust a few, but that's typical. I found the financial dashboard very comprehensive, giving a good overview of my spending and income. The mobile app is decent for quick checks on the go. Delivery of the service is instant since it's software. So far, the support articles answered most of my questions. It's a strong contender for anyone needing serious financial management tools, especially the long-term forecasting.

Just wondering about the difference between Premium and Super plans. Is Super worth the extra money for a regular user?

D Dan G. 1 month ago
Super mostly gets you longer forecasting and more budgets, I think. For most people, Premium is probably enough. Depends how far out you wanna project.

R Rosa 1 month ago
If you're really into long-term planning, like years out, then Super makes sense. But if you just want to manage monthly budgets and see a few months ahead, Premium is solid.

Can I use a coupon if I decide to upgrade my plan from Free to Premium later on?

B Beth 2 months ago
Afaik, most promo codes are for new subscriptions or upgrades. You should be able to apply one during the upgrade process.

Yeah, usually coupons work for upgrading too. Just make sure it's not one of those 'new customer only' type deals.

How do you guys feel about PocketSmith vs YNAB? I'm torn between the two.

S Steve D. 2 months ago
YNAB is super strict with 'every dollar a job'. PocketSmith feels more flexible with forecasting. Depends on your style.

R Raj 2 months ago
I liked PocketSmith more for the calendar view and how it handles future expenses. YNAB felt a bit too rigid for my income fluctuations. But YNAB definitely makes you super aware of your spending.

How accurate are the cash flow forecasts in PocketSmith? Like, can I really trust it for retirement planning?

C Cody C. 1 month ago
It's pretty good for projecting based on your existing data and planned transactions. But obviously, real life happens, so it's a guide, not a crystal ball.

A Anna 1 month ago
It's a fantastic tool for seeing potential scenarios. The accuracy depends on how good your input data is and how consistently you track things. For retirement, it's super helpful to visualize, but always cross-reference with a human advisor for big decisions.

Is there a student discount for PocketSmith? My budget is TIGHT.

L Laura Beaumont 2 months ago
I'm not sure if they have a specific student discount, but they often have promo codes for new users. Check around online.

I haven't seen a dedicated student one, but definitely look for those 'first few months half off' deals. That's what I used.

Hey guys, thinking of switching to PocketSmith. Is it pretty easy to get my old Mint data over?

C Cody 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a dedicated tool for that. I switched last year and it wasn't too bad, just follow their steps.

A Alex Nguyen 2 months ago
I heard it works pretty smoothly, especially for transaction history. Some people mentioned category mapping can be a bit of a manual thing though, so prepare for that.

Thinking of signing up, but I'm a bit paranoid about connecting my bank. Is PocketSmith actually safe?

B Beth 1 month ago
They use pretty standard security for bank connections, like what other finance apps use. Your data is encrypted.
4
S Sophie 1 month ago
Yeah, from what I understand, they don't actually store your bank login details directly. It's usually through a third-party secure connection service. I've been using it for a while with no issues.

Anyone know if PocketSmith has a Black Friday sale normally? Trying to decide if I should wait to sign up.

N Neil 2 months ago
They usually do! I snagged a pretty sweet deal last November. Keep an eye out around then.

D Dana 2 months ago
Yeah, November/December is a good bet for sales. Might be worth holding off a bit if you're not in a super rush.
